Good News
Good News Tuesday is coming back in a couple of weeks. We’re still keeping track of the good things happening in the climate world.
Earth’s oldest bee species were granted legal rights
China’s and India’s coal generation fell for the first time since the 1970s
Brazil’s Supreme Court voted to affirm Indigenous land rights
Solar panels are so cheap that it’s now more economical to deploy renewables than to build more fossil fuel infrastructure
In December 2025, 97.6% of all new cars sold in Norway were EVs
We’ve been tracking these stories over the last couple of years because we know our algorithms have a bias for stories that ragebait or make us feel afraid because “negativity drives online information consumption” — The Center for Conflict and Cooperation at NYU wrote about this on their Substack last year.
The goal of Good News Tuesday isn’t to erase or ignore the darkness unfolding all around us, it’s to give some daylight to the stories that should make the front page but often don’t. We need to know that efforts are being made and progress is happening, even during times of unimaginable evil, to keep resignation and doom at bay.
“Anything else you’re interested in is not going to happen if you can’t breathe the air and drink the water. Don’t sit this one out. Do something. You are by accident of fate alive at an absolutely critical moment in the history of our planet.”
Carl Sagan
Something to do
This feels like a good time to remind you that every seat in the US House of Representatives is up for election this year. There’s a new USPS rule that could affect your ballot, tax return, and other time-sensitive deliveries. Check your voter registration, start learning about what will be on your local ballot, learn about your voting rights, and make a plan because November 3rd will be here before you know it!
